Yosemite Shopping

Shortly after the rush for gold in the Yosemite Sierra region ebbed to a dull and dreary life of prospecting, some settlers found that supplying beef, produce, and supplies to the masses was much easier work and more profitable. All manner of other businesses providing for the growing population of the area quickly emerged. Provisioning communities like Fresno Flats, Raymond, Grub Gulch and others sprang up around the foothills. "Shopping" in the region was born.

Visitors today can avail themselves of more modern services and "provisions" for those Sierra hikes, camping at Bass Lake or snacks for eating back at the room. Gifts and souvenirs as well as some of the finest art in the world can also be purchased at our specialty shops.
